I have used Clonzilla to clone the Compute Stick before, works pretty well. It should be a lot "easier" compared to using "dd".
This is my procedure for imaging an ICS.
USB boot drive with a Live OS, and a USB hard drive (for the images) plugged into a usb hub.
Boot to the Live OS usb drive, mount up the larger USB drive where you want to put (or get) the image.
Unmount the local storage (if it was automounted). In my case this is /dev/mmcblk0p2.
to take an image from a stick:
dd_rescue -a -b 8M /dev/mmcblk0 filenameoutput
restoring an image is the opposite.
