Access to hardware video acceleration in Edison?

    CRAllen

The Tangier product brief mentions hardware accelerated video encoding / decoding, but I'm not finding much information on how to access that functionality. Is there any place that lists how to access the hardware acceleration?

There seem to be scattered documentation on the atom series processors in general:

Android* - High Quality Video Compression: Integrating an H.265/HEVC Solution for Intel® Atom™-Based Android* Platforms …

Intel® Atom™ Processor E6xx Hardware Accelerated Video Encoding

But I can't find much about the Z34XX Tangier series in the Edison.

Anyone know if there's documentation on how to access the video compression hardware acceleration in the Edison?

Is the best way to just use ffmpeg and rely on the hardware acceleration to be supported in there?
