DP45SG stereo mix codec missing - unable to record 'What you hear'

Is there something that I must do (short of buying a sound card) that would allow me to record "What you hear" audio to software products such as Sony Vegas, Microsoft's Sound Recorder, and other third party audio recording software?  Currently such products show no indication that an audio signal is recognized, consequently what I get are empty/silent audio files.  Are there codecs missing that need to be installed?  Is the built in sound card on the DP45SG a piece of @#$@#$ and doesn't permit "stereo mix"/"what you hear" recording?  What's the deal with recording "what you hear" internet streams/YouTube playbacks when using this motherboard?

      Thanks.
