Intel does not test and validate Intel® NUC on Linux; however we know that a lot of NUC owners are using it successfully on many different Linux distros.
Intel suggests you check your Linux distro's website and forums at Debian User Forums • Index page for peer assistance with this issue.
Sorry for my bad English...
I am owner of NUC5PPYH Bios 0048 and use FreeBSD 10.3-RC3 and Xfce 4.12, HDMI display LG 22MP55HQ-P. After install Xorg & Xfce I am run the command: Xorg -configure, after that: startxfce4. Error: number of created screens... In xorg.conf auto-detected driver "intel", but FreeBSD now dont support Intel N3700 Braswell Graphics... If manually replace "intel" to "vesa" in xorg.conf Intel Graphics successfully works in FreeBSD in vesa mode on Xfce. But quality of YouTube video is very poor.
Hi dpostolov san,
Thank you for your information, and sorry for my funny English.
I think, I'll check my FreeBSD environment.
In Debian 8 jessie environment, I found Xorg worked well by installing some packages from jessie-backports.
- xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.99.917-2~bpo8+1)
- libdrm2 (2.4.66-2~bpo8+1)
- libdrm-intel1 (2.4.66-2~bpo8+1)
- libgl1-mesa-dri (11.1.2-1~bpo8+1)
- libgl1-mesa-glx (11.1.2-1~bpo8+1)
- libgbm1 (11.1.2-1~bpo8+1)
- libglapi-mesa (11.1.2-1~bpo8+1)
- libllvm3.5 (1:3.5.2-3~bpo8+2)
- linux-libc-dev (4.3.5-1~bpo8+1
- linux-image-4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 (4.3.5-1~bpo8+1)
- linux-headers-amd64 (4.3+70~bpo8+1)
After installing these packages, Xorg intel driver is attached and works well.
NUC5PPYH Bios 0050. If you want to use BSD-like OS, try to use DragonFly BSD latest Release or Development. In DragonFly BSD Intel video driver successfully works with full hardware acceleration.
I have at length tested a xorg vesa driver in FreeBSD 10.3R, the driver works well.
