There are different variations of the "black screen of death" depending on what caused the problem.
Check your video connection and make sure that both ends of your VGA cable is firmly seated and that the cord is undamaged.
If you can access the BIOS please press F9 when you’re in the BIOS to set the system to defaults and then press F10 to save your changes and see if the problem persists.
Try unplugging and plugging the VGA cable.
Have you tried using straight HDMI cable from the NUC to the monitor?
Try plugging the power cord to another power bar or straight to the outlet.
Test the system with different power adapter if it is possible.

This is NUC Kit DN2820FYKH. Can you find any VGA output from DN2820FYKH device?
I have come across more than 25 discussion threads to reach this point. I can see more than hundred of people making the same complain about this NUC unit blank screen either from standby to wakeup or change the input source in the amp back to the unit. This time, it happens even completely power off and restart the unit.
If it is something simple, I won't ask here.
By the way, your reset default BIOS, power straight to the outlet, or power adapter replacement obviously doesn't work.
