I have a low-level server based on the Intel D975XBX2 motherboard. I have also recently upgraded all the hard drives (2x 320GB and 2x 500GB) and configured them in 2 RAID 1 arrays. The drives are in a 4 bay hot swap caddy.
I'ts running Windows Server 2008 R2 and the Intel Matrix Storage Manager randomly reports a degraded array. I say randomly as the disks that 'fail' are random. Once I set the disk as normal in the software, it starts rebuilding and all is back to normal.
Only a week later the same thing happens.
The fact it's random is very odd - it can't be the drives, it can't be the cables, it can't be the motherboard or hot swap caddy connectors.
BIOS and drivers are all upto date, using the ones from the Intel website designed specifically for 2008 R2 x64.
Hmm, is this a for definate answer: http://communities.intel.com/thread/5036;jsessionid=7F5BB0F08E597A7C3AA33AFC25294487.node5COMS?start=0&tstart=0
Someone on another forum suggested PSU issues, so i'll give that a go first.
