Intel Driver Update Utility no longer detects latest drivers, attempts to download latest graphics drivers failed

For quite a few months now, the Driver Update Utility on my laptop has stopped finding the latest drivers whenever I try to scan for them, forcing me to download them from Intel/HP themselves (although I've only done that with the wireless driver.) After the latest Windows 10 update, my games started running painfully slow, so I decided I'd go and try to see if there's a new driver, lo and behold there is, and it's quite a ways ahead of the one I currently have installed. I attempted to install it from Intel, but it states that I don't have the proper specifications for it (which I checked, I certainly do, as it was the same generation, and same bit.) After reading about manufacturers having certain, specialized drivers, I decided to go to HP to see if they had any drivers for it, which it said it did after detecting my system, but after attempting to install it, it told me that "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer. Setup will exit."

I really need help here. What do I do? My laptop is an HP ENVY 15-u010dx x360 Convertible PC (ENERGY STAR) if that helps at all.

Hello, Veilan:

The recommendation as probably you already read about is to download and install and install the drivers for your OEM device from it's manufacturer website.

Have you tried with the graphics driver: 10.18.15.4248 ?

This is from the HP support website, http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-x360-Convertible-PC-series/6944194/model/7174404 HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

You can also test your system with the default drivers from Windows 10*, you can obtain them by going to the device manager, uninstalling the graphics driver and rebooting your system.

I look forward to your outcome with this.

Yes, I tried installing it from HP's website, but upon trying to finish the driver's download, it displayed the message I showed up above.

I haven't tried to install that. The one I was trying to get was https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25698/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-3rd-Gen-BYT- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25698/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-3rd-Gen-BYT- this. The one I currently have is 15.33.38.64.4252.

I looked in the device manager, and there's so many things there, I'm not sure exactly what to delete. What would the driver be called there, exactly?

Hello, Veilan:

Please verify that you already have all the other drivers installed in your system, chipset driver would be an important driver.

Also, while accessing the website provided, please make sure you are selecting the correct Operating System that matches yours.

There are two other options that you could try, install the default drivers from Windows 10* or install the generic drivers from Intel®.

For both would apply the rule where the special features or setting that could have been added by the OEM would not be available.

A. How to obtain default drivers from Windows 10*:

1. Access the device manager, look for display adapters, right click on Intel® HD Graphics (this would be the name in device manager).

2. Select properties and go to driver tab.

3. Uninstall the driver and let windows reboot.

4. After rebooting, Windows 10* shoul automatically install the defaul drivers.

B. Installing generic drivers from Intel®.

1. Download the proper version for your unit (32/64-bit version).

2. Install the driver with the .exe file in it.

Here you can find related links:

Uninstalling the driver and letting the generic Windows 10 ones install seemed to work, thank you so much!
