I've bought a Xeon E3-1230LV3 1.8 GHz CPU, and a Asus H97M Plus motherboard, upgraded to newest firmware. When I power it up it makes five short beeps. I tested the motherboard with a different Core i7 and a Celeron, and both work fine, so I assumed I had fried the CPU. I therefore bought another Xeon E3-1230LV3, but it has the same issue (five short beeps).
Here's a video of the problem: https://youtu.be/PEozEZWf4UU https://youtu.be/PEozEZWf4UU
From https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97MPLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/ Asus's website it looks like the CPU should be compatible, but I can't find anything on Intel's website. Does anyone know if the CPU is vendor locked, and in that case, to which motherboards?

Hello Allanrbo:
Thank you for the video.
From the beeps we know that this is not memory, CPU overheating or video. It's possible that these beeps refer to process failure, check this link http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?board_id=1&model=P8P67+DELUXE&id=20120112054616772&page=1 ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- Error Code Beeps. However, I am not positive about this since this is not an Intel motherboard. Try to contact ASUS in order to obtain more information in regard to error code beeps.

A solution was found: I installed a graphics card.
I had wrongly assumed that the motherboard had an onboard graphics card because it has VGA/HDMI/DVI ports. I have now learned that these do not work unless the CPU has a built in GPU, which the Xeon doesn't.
