Need help adding bootable SSD to Dell Precision T3600 with Intel C600 chipset

I've done a bit of research and it seems that SSDs mounted via PCIe interface perform better than those mounted via SATA.

The rub is that all the PCIe SSDs I have seen so far use NVMe (instead of AHCI). That's great for performance, but I suspect such drives won't be bootable on the T3600 (which apparently uses an Intel C600 chipset).

Could anyone confirm this will indeed be an issue? Or is it possible to boot to NVMe SSD on a machine using the C600 chipset?
If this is an issue, are there any PCIe AHCI drives you would recommend?

      Thanks a lot.
