Have you tried recovering BIOS manually?
I cannot get the Bios on screen with HDMI or Mini-DP also the usb ports are dead no lights on my keyboard or on my usb Spdif connector, is it wise to proceed with a manual Bios upgrade removing the jumper if I have no on screen graphics?
In some cases it solves the problem.
When you say that it have previously worked, I would try that approach and see if it does anything. If for nothing else, to see if the system will give an output when booting up without jumper.
If it boots without jumper and gives an output, maybe you will be able to use my findings from today: Re: NUC6i5SYK wont boot
I booted the system without jumper
Aborted the flash of the BIOS
Then I could navigate into the UEFI setup
Here one can then reset all settings.
If this doesn't work either, you might need to try clearing CMOS. But that's a little tricky
i have tried all of that, the unit is DEAD no Usb working I did all that was suggested before I posted, reset the Bios by removing battery it's DEAD! this computer is as much use as a bicycle to a fish.
I understand your frustration, I have had the same experience.
I know it can be an irritating question, but I just want to be sure:
When you click the power button, is it then showing ANY kind of light? Is the fan on? What if you connect ethernet to it, will the ethernet port then blink? (This is just to confirm that it receives power).
If it des receive power, does it then return an output if you plug in a FAT32 formatted USB drive with the new BIOS on and start it without the jumper? (This is to confirm that the unit is completely dead)
- If you get an output here, can you then cancel the reset and navigate to the UEFI?
When you removed the battery, did you then short the battery connectors for 10 seconds to ensure that all electricity was removed from the board? I have experienced that removing the battery wasn't enough to clear the CMOS.
I'm sorry for asking those questions again, bear with me, I just wanna make sure EVERYTHING have been tried
I tried shorting the battery pins I have power light but usb ports are DEAD as I first stated, the unit is NOT ABLE to read a USB stick NO ON SCREEN GRAPHICS. It cost me £25 in phone calls printing and wrapping to send the first unit back. I am a pensioner on a very low income I would rather be spending money on keeping warm and food. I have to go out now to rent a computer till this is dealt with in a professional manner. I may be old but I do have many technical qualifications in electronics and engineering. This is the same problem I had on My original unit.
What kind of light do you get?
The unit powers up the fan runs I get normal blue light but this is the same problem I had before.
And the fan continues with the same speed, and doesn't throttle down at any point?
The light keeps on lighting, and doesn't turn on and off?
The light stays on the fan is not throttling down
Thanks for your help I know you tried hard, but trying to communicate on a mobile phone for Me is a pain. I have just had a call from Intel Swindon UK to arrange a replacement. This fault was the same as on my original unit. Thanks again Be Lucky!
