As mentioned in other threads I am using the standard Apple Displayport to VGA adapter with no issues.
Using the Accell B101B-002B here no problems on a NUC5i5RYK.
Tip: Rather than looking for a super-thick VGA cable for high resolutions like I did, connect the adapter directly to your monitor. You will need to get a pin gender changer, but the advantage of doing so is that you can then get a mini-dp to mini-dp cable in the length you'd like and not have to worry about signal degradation that you would with VGA.
In this case for you to get the best resolution it will be better to use straight connection with the unit and this will be using an HDMI or Display Port to an HDMI or Display Port monitor/TV, if not you can try one of the adapter recommended above by TheWombat and Sunspark.
