Same in happens when in safemode. Didn´t find any report in FAQ that would adress this issue, no older versions of the utility are availible and so on...

dxdiag report:

1. Press Windows key + "R".

2. Type "dxdiag" and hit enter or click ok.

3. Save the report where it says "Save all the information".

msinfo32 report:

Same as dxdiag but when saving it go to file and then save.

So, in the meanwhile you published a new driver and nvidia did one as well. I thought it wouldn´t hurt to give you some new information:

Latest Intel: 10.18.10.4358

Latest Nvidia: 10.18.13.6175 (also known as 361.75)

Bug is still present. But hey, now you´ve also got DxDiag and msinfo from a system that currently got the bug!

Well, I hope it helps. I´m switching back to Nvidia 350.12 via DisplayDriverUninstaller now; guess it´ll work again then. But it´s still not cool beeing forced to use such an old GraphicsCardDriver!

This problem is not limited to Intel HD 4000 and below. I have an Intel HD4600 with a Nvidia GTX 970m and have the same problem with Windows 10. Windows 8 worked perfect, but Windows 10 has constant switching with lags during Windows user interface events (wallpaper switching, bringing up the action center, even the notification for CD or USB drive. All you need to do to make it manually happen is right click on the desktop and select "Next desktop background" and it will switch to the dedicated video card, just for a second. I don't believe the issue has to do with WDDM incompatibilities as the original poster speculates because the 4600 is 2.0, isn't it? I also know I'm not the only user with the 4600 and this problem. Let me know if you want any logs or whatever.

testrun: Well, there are several methods to get a guaranteed buglag. I just thought the manual wallpaper change-method would be the easiest one to reproduce.

I found your thread yesterday and since it was fairly recent I replied and posted the link over at the Nvidia forums (the same thread you linked to in your first post). I'm hoping to get Intel's attention to see if they will fix it. This bug has been here since Windows 10 came out and is quickly getting old.

This is the problem: When the Windows 10 user interface has to do something GPU wise (wallpaper switching, opening the action center, many more), it switches from Intel to NVIDIA for only a second then back to Intel. In Windows 8, the Intel GPU was capable of these effects. All this switching causes lags. This problem effects anyone with a HD4600 and older ones including the HD4000 that we know of.

Also to add: I have the latest beta drivers available from Intel and the latest Nvidia drivers. It's still not working.

Can you look into it? Do you need more info?

for me, it lags when the wallpaper is switched automatically, doesnt necessarily have to click & change it.

clicking on power/ battery icon on the taskbar notification area.

plugging in & removal of an USB diskdrive (has to be a drive, an input device like a gamepad, a keyboard or a mouse wont trigger it)clicking on "System" on the Settings panel from the Start menu.opening IE.

triggers the lag. everytime.

Same random gpu switching optimus bug with 4600 and GTX780M - longest running unresolved problem I can recall within the windows os

Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia, and my laptops manufacturer, Sager are all pointing at each other to fix it.

I'm truly not interested in the blame game, I would just like this ongoing problem resolved.
