Windows 10 freezes on Skylake Core i5-6400

I got a brand new system with the following specs:

  • Intel Core i5-6400 (Skylake, Family 6 Model 94 Stepping 3)
  • MSI Z170a-Pro motherboard
  • 16GB (2x8) Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4-2133 CL14-14-14
  • Samsung SSD 850 Pro 512GB (system partition)
  • Samsung SSD 840 Evo 500GB
  • Seagate 2TB ST2000DM001-9YN164
  • beQuiet L8-350W
  • Windows 10 Pro

I did a clean install of Windows. I've all the latest drivers installed with updated BIOS and upgraded firmwares of the SSDs.

Intel Driver Update Utility doesn't find any outdated drivers.

Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool 64Bit reports everything is fine.

memtest86 didn't find any problems.

Disabling C-States and other suggested BIOS tweaks don't help.

So why the hell is Windows 10 freezing (no blue screen, only hard reset helps)? I bet there is a huge bug somewhere in the Chipset of Skylake CPUs. Any official comments on the situation???

I have not experienced same issue on my demo system. I just made sure the BIOS was updated with latest microcode from MSI.

Apparently there's some known bug. Supposedly only while running prime95 but i have that problem whenever I'm just playing any video for long enough:

Hopefully they release fix soon...
