Can not update driver for 945GM Express Chipset

I have Packard Bell laptop with Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family. The driver is very out of date and has a bug with OpenGL, so I want to update it (hoping the bug has been fixed). However, when I try to update the driver either manually or using the Driver Update Utility it says an "unexpected error" has occurred and it shuts down. I have tried different browsers, and downloading several times (as suggested in another thread) but I just can't update the driver. What can I do? Why won't the driver update?
