I had a frustrating time trying to get my Edison's flashed ... and I read that cables were sometimes an issue. If you plug your Edison into
your serial port and the OTA drive does not appear, chances are you have an unsuitable cable.
All the cables look alike. A few of my cables were perfect for charging. Not all cables micro-USB cables are identical. If you are experiencing
issues getting an OTA drive on your desktop, assume the cable is at fault. I didn't and wasted several hours, and several cables later found
one that worked as expected.
actually charging USB cables may be produced without data lines (D+/D-) inside.
It means that such cables may be used for charging purposes only.
For Edison board need to use a true USB cable.
