Can I flash Desktop bios on a Workstation motherboards

      Hi All,

I have a quick question for everyone can we use Desktop bios on a workstation mother board. we have two 975x chipset motherboards which are pretty similar ones.

D975xbx2 and S975xbx2. Here is why i want to flash the bios. S975xbx2 being a workstation/server class motherboard supports very few processors in the quad core range and does not support xeon processors at all. but D975XBX2 though it is a desktop class motherboard it supportsxeon processors. recenetlly i bought a intel xeon x3220 but it does not show all the cores on the S975xbx2 motherboard but works fine showing as one core processor.

Please check the compatible procs for D975xbx2 : http://processormatch.intel.com/COMPDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d975xbx2

Please check the compatible procs for S975xbx2 : http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s975xbx2/sb/CS-023536.htm

Can some one please guide if flashing will make a difference so that it can see all the 4 cores.
