Where is current Win7/2008R2 driver?

I'm trying to find the most current driver for my PRO/100 PT Dual server adapter for use with Windows Server 2008 R2. All of the support links that I've followed lead to PROVISTAX64.exe which is not compatible with my OS. I can find a previous release (14.7) of PROWIN7X64.exe, but no current one. Is the support site messed up or am I missing something here?

Hello,

Identify your product from the list and check if the corresponding driver works.

All the best,

Kind Regards,

Aryan.

That's exactly what I've been doing, Aryan. I scroll down to my product, D50868-xxx PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter, click the link to "Latest Drivers" and that takes me to http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-006120.htm http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-006120.htm. From there I click the http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910 PROWIN7X64.exe link and that takes me to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910 which downloads PROVISTAX64.exe which doesn't work. I tried running PROVISTAX64.exe on 2008 R2 and I get a "not supported on this platform" message.

Hello,

Check this link:

The best thing to do is to check with Mark.

He is like our guru.

Mark's link in that message (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2248&DwnldID=17910&agr=Y PROWIN7X64.exe) leads to that same PROVISTAX64.exe download. I think Intel's web team may need a kickstart or something.

Hello again,

I know it is the same driver. I gave you the link as a reference.

So that you can ask for more information from Mark as he is the one who can give an answer.

All the best,

Kind Regards,

Aryan.

Thanks for using Intel Ethernet products. I am also sorry it is so difficult to find the driver for the NIC you have in your system. I did some hunting around, and I believe you should be able to use the following SW release to load drivers for Server 2008 R2 for the PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server adapter:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17910&lang=eng

Please post back to the forum and let me know if it works for you or not. The driver version is 9.13.16.0. If it does work I will ask that our driver release page for this NIC is updated.

Again, thank you for using Intel Ethernet products!

Cheers,

-- miles

PS: I think that Mark the guru is out on vacation right now.

Thanks Miles, but even thought that looks like the correct download location, the file it leads to is PROVISTAX64.exe which, as the name implies, is a Vista driver, not a Win7/R2 one.

BTW, the reason I'm looking for a driver update is that the DNS service on my server fails to autostart at bootup with a "network is not present or not started" error. I've narrowed the cause down to NIC teaming, and was hoping the driver update might help.

The correct driver has been submitted and should be available in the next hour or so. Keep trying the link. The file should be: PROWIN7X64.exe

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The download page shows the correct file name now, but the link takes me to a message saying, "The file that you are trying to download has either been moved, renamed or archived." Quittin' time here, guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Same thing again today at http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17910/a08/PROWIN7X64.exe http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17910/a08/PROWIN7X64.exe

"The file that you are trying to download has either been moved, renamed or archived."

I am having the same issue trying to update a brand new Intel Pro/1000 GR NIC for a new build. This file is nowhere to be found here or anywhere else. Intel has dropped the ball on this one.

C'mon Intel. Bought this card today and looks like driver as stated in these posts not been posted correctly since Dec. 21st...good first impression I get for buying this card I suppose!!

In my shop if someone is asked to post something they test it before they release it....is that too much to ask for? I guess no one gives a sh*t...typical big organization.

I sent an email to Intel tech support via the form on this site on Wednesday the 23rd. No joy there so far either.

I can confirm it STILL says the same message:

The file that you are trying to download has either been moved, renamed or archived.

Please go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ http://downloadcenter.intel.com and choose your product to find your download.

The original Win7 drivers are available, and can be downloaded at this time, just not the x64 drivers.

All,

Until our web interface gets fixed I've posted the PROWIN7x64.exe file to our FTP site. The file can be downloaded by clicking the link below:

ftp://ftp.intel.com/pub/outgoing/PROWIN7X64.exe ftp://ftp.intel.com/pub/outgoing/PROWIN7X64.exe

When the issue with the file on Download Center gets fixed I will post an update here.

Thanks,

Justin Wright

Thanks Justin. The really good news is that the new driver seems to have resolved my DNS service startup problem.
