    igfx Tray has stopped working

I have had an ongoing problem for a month or so now.Every time I boot my laptop I receive error messages that igfx Tray has stopped working.

I have been searching high and low for a fix to this problem with no success.

The first error message gives this information:

The second message gives this information:

      igfxTray.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x5e7794ca referenced memory at 0xa9432570. The memory could not be read.

Click OK to terminate the program.

I have run the Intel Driver Update Utility several times with admin privileges which says it does not find any drivers.

I have also tried to manually install the correct graphics driver only to be told it is not compatible with my system.

      My laptop details are:

Dell XPS 15 with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4712HQ CPU 2.30 GHz
      16 gig RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M (with updated driver)

I would love to get this annoying problem solved so thank you to anyone who can give me some advice.
