RAID1 on Windows7 Ultimate has failed couple of weeks back. Replacing the failed drive starts rebuilding but then it reboot the whole computer with again Degraded drive. The drive that shows degraded is actually working when connect as a slave with another computer.
What I want to achieve now is - making the existing drive which is working but degraded from RAID1 to work as a SIMPLE drive. I was thinking to change from RAID to AHCI option but could not find in the BIOS and in one of the forum it says doing that could make the computer unbootable.
After it works as a simple drive then will create RAID1 from Disk Management as Intel RST is giving lot of issued and does not seems to be reliable.
This is the Main production and got to be careful to not to make unbootable.
Quick response is highly appreciated.
Here is the specs of the existing computer
- Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit)
- Gigabyte Motherboard GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
- i5 2500 3.3 Ghz
- RAID1 using BIOS
There are 2 options. 1) You can keep using your system with 1 Hard Disk Drive and RAID ready in the BIOS; you are already working with 1 disk.
2) It is necessary to create a backup of your personal information; change the chipset SATA mode in the BIOS from RAID to AHCI, reinstall the operating system and applications.
