    i7-6700 (non-K) consumer availability?

    stamminator

I am trying to purchase a standalone i7-6700 processor for a new rig, but everywhere I look, only the i7-6700K is available. This processor isn't available anywhere right now, and when it is, it's some one-off instance on eBay or Amazon with a jacked up price. Even Intel's own "Where to buy" links are either sold out or are incorrectly pointing to the K model (Shop Intel for Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz)).

When will this processor get regular, ubiquitous availability, and why is the 6700K the only one of the three 6th-gen i7 desktop class processors that is available? I'd really like to get this surprise machine built for my dad in time for Christmas, but with the lack of availability of this processor (and corresponding communication regarding said availability), it's starting to look bleak. Any assistance or clarity would be much appreciated.
