Bluetooth driver windows 10 on dell xps 13 skylake

I have recently bought a dell xps 13 skylake (9350) which runs on windows 10 version 1511. Due to the poor wifi connectivity of the Broadcom 1820 card, I have installed Intel's wireless 7265 AC and bluetooth 4.0 card. After physical installation, the wifi and bluetooth worked out of the box. There is however one problem:

Bluetooth cannot be switched off, through the action center or through the settings menu. There is no option to slide bluetooth on or off.

This means that it is continuously searching for bluetooth devices, even when I'm not using lets say a bluetooth mouse.

It seems to be a driver issue, since updating the driver through device manager gives me an error that says:

(In English)

A driver was found for this device, but an error occurred while attempting to install the driver: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R).

The driver is not designed for this system.

I have already tried to install the latest Intel drivers manually, they don't seem to resolve the problem.

Could anyone give me suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Kind regards,

Ronald

Hello Zynderer,

We are sorry to know about this situation and would like to let you know that there are several reasons why your laptop does not recognize new hardware properly when you install an Intel® Wireless Adapter. Installing or upgrading the various Intel® Wireless Adapters by end users is not supported by Intel. They can only be installed by the manufacturer or its authorized representative.

Before installing this device into a system, you must contact the manufacturer of the system, and determine if the product is approved for use in a specific system in a specific country. Please review the following documents for details:

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-011644.htm Intel® Wi-Fi Products — Regulatory Information Regarding Hardware Installation or Upgrade

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-031167.htm Intel® Wi-Fi Products — Why Doesn't My Laptop Recognize My New Intel® Wireless Adapter?

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/sb/CS-006192.htm Wireless Networking — Installation Error when Installing or Swapping Intel Wireless Adapters

In our best effort, we would advise you to try a manual installation of the generic driver version 17.1.1532.1814 from Intel Download Center: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25325/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Bluetooth-Technology-for-Windows-10-64-bit Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® Technology for Windows® 10 64-bit

If the issue persists after this and the Bluetooth component cannot be switch off with the PC switch, or using Windows options, you might need to look for a way to disable it in Device Manager, then contact the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm Computer Manufacturer Support for assistance, and to determine which Wireless adapters are approved for use in your system.
