6700K - IA: Max Turbo Limit + IA: Turbo Attenuation (MCT) flags on hwinfo64

These flags appear on hwinfo64

A CMOS reset and BIOS update didn't fix them (MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC Motherboard)

The CPU voltage was set to 1.23V, now it's at Auto, the issue is persistent

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility reports the 1-Core Turbo at 42x, yet 2,3,4 Cores are at 40x

So it seems the CPU somehow disabled Turbo for multiple cores

Can someone explain why this happened and whether this flags are every going to be disabled?

Hi KaanS,

The processor is working under its specifications. Turbo Boost increases the Core speed; however, only 1 Core will reach the maximum, in this case 4.2Mhz the rest will run slower.

The picture below shows expect Core speed on 6th gen processors

On my processor, I observe each core reaching 42x, but it really doesn't matter for the sake of this argument

This specific processor doesn't reach 42x ever, the performance blocking flags I mentioned gets set, it stays at 40x, my brother also reported glitches during usage, disabling Turbo fixed the issue, the flags no longer get set

Folks who know more pointed out that it's most porbably a BIOS/voltage issue that might get solved: http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/766755-6700K-IA-Max-Turbo-Limit-IA-Turbo-Attenuation-(MCT)-flags-on-hwinfo64?p=7879386# post7879386 Overclockers Forums

I'm just wondering whether it's a faulty CPU
