Intel HD graphics driver stops responding

After upgrading to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 I'm getting an error message saying that the Intel graphics drivers stopped working.  I downloaded and installed the Intel Driver Update Utility and it recommended that I install the Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 10 64 Bit (3rd Gen & BYT) version (my current version is

I was unable to install the recommended driver and got the following error messages:

CNQMSWCX.EXE - entry point not found

DriverUpdateUI.exe - entry point not found

CNQMMAIN.EXE - entry point not found

All came with the following explanation:

"the procedure point ?Delete VertexShader@USC@@YGXAAPAX@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library  C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\igdumdim32.dll"

I have 2 graphics devices in my system:

      Intel R Graphics 4600 version

      NVIDIA GeForce 840M version

I have attached a file from the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel

Any ideas as to how to resolve this issue?
