HD 4600 HDMI audio disappearing, windows 10

Whenever I turn my TV off/on the HDMI audio disappears from the list of playback devices on my htpc. It only shows up again if I reboot.

I had this issue before on windows 8, and the issue was resolved by updating to the latest bios for my motherboard (ga-h87tn). At the time there were a lot of people having this issue, all seemingly resolved with bios/driver updates:

I just did a clean install of Windows 10 with the latest drivers (15.40.10.4300 from the download center) and the problem is back. I've tried several versions of the drivers actually, and did a bios update for kicks, but nothing has worked except an ancient version of the HD4600 driver (9.18.10.3257) that doesn't have good windows 10 compatibility, Again, on windows 8 everything was working fine with my setup, so I'm assuming there must be a problem somewhere with the new versions of the driver / windows 10,

Has anyone had a similar experience with HDMI audio on Windows 10? Any solutions?

My hardware, for reference:

- Gigabyte GA-H87TN (bios v6)

- i5-4570s (HD 4600)

Hello @Washington_C,

According to your post it is possible that this issue was triggered by some feature or function missing with your BIOS configuration we can conclude this since you mentioned that a BIOS update worked on Windows® 8. Checking your motherboard specifications I noticed that there are no drivers available for Windows® 10 for your motherboard which is something that you should also consider. However, let me run some tests and see if I can replicate this issue.

Regards,

Amy.

Hello @Washington_C,

I ran the test in several systems including different T.Vs and monitors and the issue did not occur, the HDMI audio worked fine. I strongly believe that there must be some feature or function missing with your BIOS version.

Regards,

Amy.
