Has anyone been able to figure out how to get Windows 10 to run any of the drivers offered by Intel for the HD 4000. Every time I try I get black screen with no cursor. Thanks.

Hi JRS6067,

Windows® 10 is fully compatible with 3rd gen processors with Intel® HD graphics 4000 and newer processor models.

I suggest you to run Windows® 10 update utility, it will install the latest graphics driver for your computer.

If problem continues, run our Intel® system support utility and reply with the results.

Mike C,

Thanks for your quick response. I installed the most recent Intel Graphic driver for the HD 4000 and then proceeded to update to Windows 10. I got this error when thing finalized "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (igdkmd64.sys). It automatically rebooted and then I am left with black screen and no cursor on reboot. I tried the windows button + P as I have seen on other posts to no avail. This has been the problem no matter what driver version is used. It is always black screen, no cursor. I rebooted in safe mode with networking but that only loads the generic MS display adaptor. I ran the utility and here is what I got. Not sure this going help being that the generic MS adaptor is loaded.

Which one should be installed 4252 or 4276?

See post above. Thanks.

Hi JRS6067,

Please follow this workaround on your issue. Please go to device manager, select Display adapter, right click on Intel® HD graphics 4000, choose Uninstall, check Delete option and Ok. Then, restart your computer.

Click the Windows start button, select Settings, Update & Security and run Check for Updates option. Windows® 10 will search and install the best compatible drivers for your computer.

The only way I can access Windows 10 is to start in safe mode, usually with networking. Any other option leaves me with black screen and no cursor. When I am in safe mode the only driver loaded is the basic MS display adapter. The Intel adapter does not show up so there is no way for me to delete it. Is there any way to remove it via command prompt? Thanks.

JRS6067,

According to your computer behavior, it seems to be a different issue. Even with the generic Microsoft® graphics driver the computer should work in normal mode.

Please make a test using the following hardware.

1) Gigabyte motherboard

2) i7-3770 processor

3) 1 memory stick of DDR3 1333 or 1600MHz

4) Hard drive with Operating System

Let me know the behavior.

If problem continues, please contact our http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport Contact Support team.

I really appreciate you helping me get through this problem. I am not sure what you mean when you say "make a test". Do you mean to disconnect everything and only have those 4 items active when I boot up. What about the monitor. I have HDMI and DVI. Just hook up one or the other? Only hook up the keyboard and mouse directly to the motherboard USB, removing a hub? Once again, thank you.

Hi JRS6067,

You are right, plug the monitor to your motherboard using the embedded video port, plug mouse and keyboard too.

Please make a test using the following hardware.

1) Gigabyte motherboard

2) i7-3770 processor

3) 1 memory stick of DDR3 1333 or 1600MHz

4) Hard drive with Operating System

5) Monitor (TV)

6) Keyboard

7) Mouse

I will try this today. I was able to use debugging mode to open up Windows update and I also installed updated drivers from the Gigabyte site. I finally got to the point where Windows update said everything was up to date. So Windows 10 is saying the graphic driver is correct. Now when I restart I get SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION igdkmd64.sys and it goes into a restart loop.

Hi

I have the same behaviour when using intel hd 4000 driver. Black screen when windows 10 1511 boot. Before the update of windows 10 to version 1511, it was working well.

Now the only way to get it work is to put the standard microsoft driver. But with that i can't use hdmi external.

I have an acer laptop with an i7-3632QM and so an intel hd graphics 4000.

I think there is a bug with windows 10 version 1511 (the last from november the 15) for the intel driver. Just to precise i try last driver and the one before.

Can you please correct the issue and generate a new driver for intel hd 4000.

Thanks

No luck with the stripped down configuration. Here is the result from the System Support Utility. I don't think I have received the most recent large update for Windows 10 that just came out. I have been trying to resolve this problem for months and have been reverting back to Windows 7 Pro so I am inside the 30 day time period and they will defer the update. When the Intel graphics adapter is enabled that is when I am not able to do anything except safe mode. When I disable it I can get into debugging mode and try to make some changes and Windows update will work. I have a boot log file if you want to look at that?

Hi sbaloo,

In your case, I recommend you to verify with your laptop manufacturer if there are available drivers for Windows® 10. Run Windows® update utility; it will install the latest drivers of Windows® operating system and latest laptop drivers.

Hi JRS6067,

Your case is not common, the driver should work properly. Get into the BIOS and reset settings to default. Then, install the latest Chipset driver and latest Intel® Management Engine driver from Gigabyte website. Continue with Windows® 10 update utility.

Before running above troubleshooting, go to device manager and uninstall and delete the current graphics driver.

I did a try already with what you propose. And it doesn't work. But as i said before windows 10 1511 it was working.

Did you heard about other cases?

I had already gone to the Gigabyte site and downloaded and installed the most recent drivers for the motherboard. I am still experimenting with the stripped down desktop as you described. The only way to get past the blank screen is to go into safe mode. From there I updated the MS basic display adapter and it installed 153339. I rebooted and got and an error. It went into repair mode then gave options for troubleshooting. I tried to get boot using the debugging mode but it will not load. The times that I have been able to open up in debugging mode and use Windows update (it doesn't work in safe mode with networking) I tries to update the WDDM 1.1 and 1.3 and it lists the Intel HD Graphics 4000. I hit install and it reaches 50% goes blank and either restarts with an error or just freezes. Would someone in support be able to log into my computer in safe mode with networking. This is driving me crazy. I may have to go back to Windows 7 Pro but I don't want be stuck missing the free upgrade. Thanks again.

Hi Sbaloo and JRS6067,

We don't have any issues reported with the latest Windows® 10 update. I suggest to contact Microsoft® and request further assistance on this. The link below provides with some help.

Windows 10 November update: FAQ

Remote access service is not available from our side.

JRS6067,

Please verify processor speed on BIOS, it should be running at 3.4GHz. Try this troubleshooting using 1 memory stick only. If it is possible send me the msinfo32 results.

Get into Windows®, right click the start button, select run, type msinfo32. It will display the system Information of your computer. Take a screenshot and paste it into this thread.

Mike,

I spent a couple of hours on the phone with MS and we reverted to Win 7 Pro, the drivers updated and then we used the Media Creation Tool to upgrade to Win 10 Pro. I am happy to say that things have been running relatively stable. I put back in the 3 other 8 GB mem sticks and still get BSOD so I might go back to 1 and work my way up and see what is the most stable configuration. Thank you for all you time and help!
