NUC5i3RYK - Wake on USB if totally powered off does not work

    karlnickel

I have issues waking my NUC5i3RYK on USB. In Visual BIOS (version 0350), all Options for waking the system are enabled - except "Wake System from S5". Now I have following strange behavior:

If the NUC is completely turned off and not connected to power, I can't wake the NUC on USB after connecting it to a power socket. Only if I manually boot the NUC and shut it down (S5), wake from USB works as expected. If I disconnect it from power and connect it again, I can reproduce this behavior. Wake on USB seems only to work, if the NUC is permanently connected to a power socket. The USB device is connected to the yellow USB port.

      Steps to reproduce:

      • Disconnect NUC from power
      • Connect NUC to power
      • Try to wake on USB (nothing will happen, the NUC wont start)
      • Boot the NUC manually via power button
      • Shut it down (S5)
      • Try wo wake on USB (NUC will start)

      Exepcted behaviour:

      • Disconnect NUC from power
      • Connect NUC to power
      • Try to wake on USB (NUC will start)

Has anyone any idea why this happens or what I am doing wrong?
