I have a Notebook with an i5-3230m and Intel HD Graphics 4000.

What settings should I change for best performance? (esp. aperture size and DVMT pre-alloc.)

Thanks in advance

Your settings already right. Whatever, Windows Vista onwards manages VRAM size independent of BIOS settings, only the 'preallocated' value will be preserved.

would it be useful to increase the aperture size? I could go higher there...

And what about the pre-allocated memory? Higher is better?

Aperture looks like outdated option from AGP times, erroneously shown by vendor. Pre-allocated is memory consumed from system at time of POST, that is all you have in non-DVMT-aware OSes (or if no Intel driver installed). In case of normal system usage keep it low enough to pass POST messages stage or OS install (depends on resolution of attached display, 8 MB enough for most cases).

Well, i`m personally not done studies in UEFI environment, maybe GOP require some more VRAM than legacy boot, so keep current value for safe.
