Let me be a bit more clear:
- My path of shares do not match the original ones for this unit
- This unit does NOT advertise my "shares" to my UPnP device as the CIFS share name -- it appears to scan and re-categorize what it finds
Is there a way to not scan and/or display the shares as it exists on the file system?
Let me see if I understand you correctly - you have created a new CIFS shared folder and want that CIFS share to be advertised by UPnP right? So what you need to do is to configure the media service on the SS4200-E and let it know which shared folder to advertise, following the steps I gave you before. Note that you'll need to click the top folder named "Shares", and then click it again to see you new CIFS share.
Let me break it down just one more time
My Nas has the following path for shares
Nas_share > Movies
Nas_share > Movies > English Movies
Nas_share > Movies > Non-English Movies
Nas_share > TV
Nas_share > TV > English TV
Nas_share > TV > English TV > TV Show 1
Nas_share > TV > English TV > TV Show 2
Nas_share > TV > English TV > TV Show X
Nas_share > TV > Non-English TV
Nas_share > Music
That's the share structure to my Windows machines.
With UPnP, my shares appear as (to PS3):
After a UPnP scan, the Video folder is filled with all my videos, but that's hundreds of them in a nearly flat folder structure -- making it very difficult to navigate. I've already done the organization, I'd rather the NAS not re-do what I've done.
