    DZ77RE-75K Windows 10 Drivers

    daveyg

Ok, so I have just done a clean install on windows 10 (previously I had upgraded from Win7).

Intel have not released any drivers for this board for Win10, for example I cannot get the USB driver to load - error message says I do not meet the minimum system requirements.

I tried downloading the driver update tool. That detects my board, and the OS (Win10 64bit) then says: no drivers installed, No updates available.

All the drivers on the website are from 2013.

Clearly Intel have washed their hands of this 'ancient' hardware, but it would be nice to get the proper drivers on, not just Microsoft's defaults, or are they good enough?

I assume the main drivers I need are:

      Intel RST

      USB 3.0

      Chipset

      Thanks

      Dave

Yes, these boards are in end-of-life status and Intel will not be explicitly providing driver updates. You can get driver updates, however; you just need to be a bit creative locating them. You don't have to worry about USB 3.0; this is covered nicely, but you should install an updated Chipset (INF) package and updates for Intel RST and LAN may be worthwhile.

Here's a link that will download the latest Chipset INF Update package: Download Chipset: Intel® Chipset Device Software for Intel® NUC.

Here's a link to a version of RST that may work for you: Download RAID: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel® NUC.

Here's a link for the latest LAN packages: Download LAN: Intel® Gigabit Ethernet Controller driver for Intel® NUC.

          Hope this helps,

          ...Scott

            Thanks for you help Scott,

Chipset and LAN drivers installed fine.

RST would not go on - Extended error text: 'Error in device matching'

I have a full log, this is the end where it goes wrong, I assume wrong device for the driver:

Any further help would be great.

              Hhmmm...

The log is telling me that the package contains support for the 8-, 9- and 10-Series Chipsets. Unfortunately, your system has the 7-Series Chipset. From what I can see in the Download Center, the next previous RST release available does not have support for Windows 10.

Before anything else, let me ask you this: Do you actually need RST? Are you using SSD Caching or RAID? If not, you may want to just stop and not worry about it. If you are, however, you are going to have to do one of two things, (1) bug Intel Customer Support to find you a compatible version (though I doubt they will offer anything that isn't posted on the Download Center site) or (2) go check the OEM sites (companies like Dell, Lenovo, etc.) for custom builds that support Windows 10 yet still support the 7 Series chipset (I don't know if such builds exists; this is grabbing at moonbeams time).

                Hi daveyg,

I am sorry for the inconvenience with your Intel® motherboard; however, Intel stopped supporting motherboards. The compatible operating systems with our boards are listed in the document below.

Thanks for the reply, I use an SSD, but not SSD caching or RAID.  If there is nothing else RST brings to the party then as you say, perhaps I can just ignore it.

Mike, thanks for the link.  According to that table none of the boards are compatible with Windows 10 as the table only goes up to 8.1! My board is listed as supported up to 8.1 though.

                      N.Scott.Pearson

Once all of the boards achieved end-of-life status, Intel stopped validating these boards with new O/S updates and new O/S releases. The table stops with Windows 8.1 because that is the last O/S release that Intel validated with any of the boards and, where applicable, warranted would work with the boards. Now, this doesn't mean that Windows 10 isn't going to work on these boards; it just means that Intel is not going to validate whether or not it is going to work and, because of this, Intel is certainly not going to warranty that it will work.
