Failure to install driver update

Currently, my computer is running 32 bit Windows 7 with the graphics driver version 8.14.10.1930. The current accelerator in use is Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. I have tried to install the updated driver avaliable to me (version 15.12.75.4.1930) both using the Intel Driver Update Utility application and manually downloading the 32-bit driver update from the website. Both times the update failed to install.

My laptop's OS did use to be Vista before it was upgraded. Could that be the cause of this problem? Is it possible my accelerator is incompatable with the updated driver?

Hello Zenet9,

Please try to install driver using the following method http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033915.htm Graphics Drivers — How to Manually Install a Driver in Microsoft Windows 7*.

Let me know your findings.

Regards,

Amy.

Performing that method states that the driver is up to date. However, several issues still remain. The graphics media accelerator driver still states that the current version is 8.14.10.1930, looking at the properties of the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family driver itself shows the version 8.15.10.1930, and the driver update utility still scans the update 15.12.75.4.1930 as the latest avaliable update.

I noticed on the driver download site (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81508 Downloads for Graphics Drivers for Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family) that version 15.12.75.1930 has (8.15.10.1930) listed in the description in parenthesis just like that. Despite what the driver update utility says, is the latest driver update actually installed?

Please refer to the following link http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-020667.htm Graphics Drivers — Understanding The Intel® Graphics Driver Version Number.

Drivers are often referred to by either build number or driver version:

DX OSver Build number

15.33.18. 64. 3496

win8 DX Build number

10. 18. 10. 3496

There is no difference between the two. The rest of numbers are just for internal reference.

Regards,

Amy.
