    problem rebuilding RAID

i have a Del DM051 motherboard with 2x 259 GB samsung HDDs set to raid1 with Intel® Matrix Storage Manager.

      WinXP SP3

      1 of the HDDs failed

I replaced the failed HDD (checked the serial No so got the right one) following the instructions at http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/cs-021014.htm and using the basic mode rebuilt the raid volume.

All appeared to be going well and I visibly saw it had got to 52% rebuilt.

The next time I looked I had a 'blue screen of death'

Now the computer will not boot to XP ( I get "A disk read error occurred" message)

Looking at the storage manager using ctl-I at startup shows

raiud volume with status =  'Rebuid" Boot ='yes'

Both physical disks are shown as 232.9 GB and as "Member Disk(0)

with a line at the bottom saying Volumes with "Rebuild" status will be rebuilt within the Operating System but I can't boot to the operating system.

I have tried booting from the Win install CD and can get to the recovery console but there are no drives visible.

Can anyone suggest how I can get to the disks to get the data

      regards CJ.
