There are different reasons why your system may lock up or freeze when using the Intel® SSD 530 Series. Please apply the following actions to address some possible culprits:
- Contact the Computer Manufacturer Support (Toshiba) and obtain the most recent BIOS for the motherboard of your PC.
- Check with the computer manufacturer and make sure you are using the most recent driver for the Storage Controller of your computer.

The SSD firmware is up to date, as is the BIOS.
I'm fairly certain that Intel is releasing updates for their drivers but Toshiba isn't passing on those updates, which means that I can't get those updates. I'm stuck with this computer for a while, unfortunately, so I feel like I'm running out of options.
Do you know if there's any way to bypass Toshiba's update restrictions and get the latest Intel updates?
The best way to obtain drivers is from Toshiba, since the computer manufacturer may include customizations specific for their systems.
As a second option, you can run the Intel® Driver Update Utility, this tool detects which driver updates are relevant to your computer, and then helps you install them quickly and easily. If your computer has an Intel Chipset and storage controller, it may allow you to update Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.
Also, keep in mind that sporadic lock ups can also be caused by other factors (memory, viruses, failing applications, Windows* issues, etc).
No new updates from Toshiba, unfortunately.
I tried both the latest version of RST from the Toshiba website, and the latest version directly from Intel, there was no change.
I keep up with antivirus and malware scans pretty diligently, so I don't think that's the issue. I'll look into the memory issue, that sounds like a likely culprit.
