HD 4000, Window 10, Failing to Control Brightness

My laptop is Lenovo Z500

It worked perfectly until upgraded from 8 to Window 10. And all the other functions works very well, but brightness control doesn't work at all.

I had tried updating driver, uninstalling and reinstalling it, but in vain.

Some recommended to contact laptop manufacturer. But

Since

(1) Function keys work fine. Point on the display(control panel) moves when a function key is pressed.

(2) Controlling brightness on the display control panel doesn't actually change brightness. It never work.

(3) Installing Microsoft basic driver solves the trouble.

I'm almost certain graphic driver, not a laptop as whole, is problematic.

I hope anyone can help me. thanks for your kindness.

P.S.

I downloaded the lastest version as of today, but when update was finished, installed one was dated 08/17

Also, I'm not sure whether version 10.18.4276 is the right one, though it reads it is for window 10.

As number starting with 10 indicates window 8 based ones as far as I know.

I wish I made some mistake while downloading & installing it. in that case, just fixing it will solve the problem, hopefully.

Registry with New Value:

You needed to change the value in registry to: ( f008 )

John, I don't know how you determined that virtual needle in a hackstack was the source of the problem, but you have my sincere thanks for sharing it here! Editing that value worked like a charm.

Hi - I have followed this up to "Feature Test Control". Is this supposed to be one of the folders under that location? I don't seem to have it if so. I don't see anything "f000".

This problem is driving me crazy and Lenovo just told me to get my computer checked to see if I need to replace parts.
