G35 & Windows 7 - No video through receiver - RESOLVED?

Hello all,

I'm having a problem getting the HDMI video from my PC to display on my TV.

Here's my setup:

Asus P5E-VM HDMI motherboard sporting an Intel G35 chipset.

HDMI out from motherboard to my Onkyo TX-SR605 AV receiver.

HDMI out from my receiver to my Sony Bravia 32" LCD HDTV.

During POST and the "Starting Windows" screen video is shown with no problems. I assume that this is done without the aid of the driver. Once the driver is loaded it seems to lose the ability to sync with the receiver and the TV loses signal. I can connect a DVI cable to an HDMI adapter and plug in another monitor (bypassing the reciever) and it works fine. It seems that getting the HDMI sync to happen between the video card and the receiver is the problem.

Before I decided to try Windows 7 I had Ubuntu 9.10 running on this setup. The driver used by ubuntu had no issues getting a sync.

Unfortunately I can't connect both the spare monitor and the HDMI at the same time to do more troubleshooting. I'm going to see if I can scam an analogue VGA cable tomorrow from work. I should be able to play with settings then.

In the mean time, does anybody have any similar experiences and/or success?

I set the default display to "Digital Television" in the Intel GMA configuration panel. Shut down, removed the second monitor, then powered up. Voila! The display works now.&# 13; &# 13; &# 13; &# 13; While I'm happy that I have a working display again, I do wonder why the display wasn't detected/configured properly in the first place, and without the aid of a second monitor.&# 13;

This was a helpful reminder for me. The default driver is only used for BIOS and installation. Windows startup uses the designated driver. Could it be that during the driver installation you need to specify a TV mode? This of course fixes the configuration so that it is problematic to reverse without reinstallation. This is the problem I have with cable now since I temporarily wanted to control a receiver through a remote. Now I have to press two buttons to startup with the receiver off. Update > sorry I lost my notes on this so I believe I mean what you did in setting the TV mode. I did this with a graphics card and the nVidia control panel was particular about setting this correctly as I recall.
