Trying to get the cross-compile toolchain to work

    cgkades

I'm having some issues with the cross-comple toolchain. While there is a lot of documentation on how to build one, the actual usage is escaping me.

I built the toolchain with bitbake <image> -c populate_sdk, and then ran the .sh file that it created to install it in /opt/iot-devkit/1.6.1/. I then source environment-setup-i586-poky-linux and try to use the $CONFIGURE_FLAGS with ./configure. Specifically I'm trying to build ffmpeg. The configure flags are all wrong and using the --help I've changed them to --target-os=i586-poky-linux --host-os=i586-poky-linux --sysroot=/opt/iot-devkit/1.6.1/sysroots/i586-poky-linux

Not surprisingly (since I don't know how to use a cross-compile toolchain) this doesn't work. I get Unknown OS 'i586-poky-linux'.

Anyone have a link on how to use the toolchian? I've tried google, but the only results are how to build a toolchain but not how to actually use it.
