Inter RST Service is not running after upgrade to Windows 10

After upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 (64 bit) I noticed the following error in my system tray:

Inter RST Service is not running.

Opening the application tries to launch IastorUI.exe but it fails every time.

Checking the properties of Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Disk driver, Inter Raid 1 Volume I see the following error messages:

I downloaded the driver but not sure which to install as there are two different .inf files in it: iaStorAC.inf and iaAHCIC.inf

also I am not sure whether these are compatible with my system since the Intell Driver Update Utility cannot find anything to update - note: i have series 5 chipset (as mentioned above).

I also tried the SETUPRST.exe utility, but it tells me that I won't be able to uninstall it if it does not work; so am a bit reluctant to try it.

If I were to try to install iaStorAC.inf (if this is the correct file to install) will I be able to revert to my previous configuration if it does not work (with system restore for example)?

Thanks, Bob.

I tried to install the setuprst.exe utility but it failed with a critical error code of 1603. I have the logs which I will attach to this document. I noted on the download page that series 5 chipsets should be compatible but while viewing the readme file during installation series 5 chipsets were not mentioned. Also in the logs the system checks for the most compatible chipsets but I saw no entries referring to series 5 chipsets... My original intel files were installed to the Program Files X86 folder and the new setuprst now tries to install them to the Program Files folder; should I try to uninstall the old app first?

Thanks.

I have the exact same problem with the same error code. My configuration is identical except for the CPU. My IntelRST_MSI.log is similar. IAStorDataSvc is listed as 32--bit in Task Manager and is located in Program Files (x86) even though I am on Win10 64-bit. I upgraded from Win 7 64-bit on a approximately 5-year old system. It appears that the new software is going to be installed in Program Files. This error message is the earliest one in the log file that I found: "Product: Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology -- Error 1921. Service 'Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology' (IAStorDataMgrSvc) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services".

The driver version is version is 13.2.0.1022 Feb 19, 2015 but IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe is 9.5.0.1037. This process is running but consuming 25% to 30% of the CPU (reported elsewhere and the reason I am trying to update)

I see you have an Intel(R) 5 series chipset and you moved to Windows® 10.

The latest support for your chipset is version 11.7, see the list of supported operating systems

Operating Systems:

Windows 7, 32-bit*, Windows 7, 64-bit*, Windows 8, 32-bit*, Windows 8, 64-bit*

Well it seems that patience is the best weapon - sometimes!

After upgrading to the newest (1511 and the following cumulative update for it) patches to Windows 10, I reinstalled the IntelRST services and now my system is back in operation.

So we can consider this problem solved; thanks Microsoft.
