I've just finished building a system with Windows 10 ( installed from scratch ). It was installed with the Intel RAID enabled with a 5 * 1Tb disks ( 3.63Tb available ). It has being fully initialized, it took 23hrs.
Now i'm copying some VHD file ( arround 13GB) from an external USB3.0 HDD , the copy starts at 130 ~ 102 MB/s , but after 5~10 seconds, the speed drops to 10 ~12MB/s
The external HD get's arround 100 MB/s , how is it possible that the RAID array is almost 10 times slower ? is there some config change that can be done to get a better performance ?
The driver version installed is the 184.108.40.2069 ( dated of 08/29/2015 ).
Ok, after dozen of scenarios testings... I disabled the BIOS RAID , installed the AHCI driver and built a Windows Storage Space ( with stripping resilience aka: RAID 5 ) and got my performance back ... It now writes at 150~200MB/s and reads at 350~450MB/s .
So ... the RAID built in funcionality, don´t know if because the driver or the tecnology itself, doesn´t work good under Windows 10.
