What is BUS / Core ratio?What is BUS / Core ratio? And which processor is faster one with Bus/core ration 10.0 or bus/core ratio 12.0....

Hello Anil,

Bus/Core Ratio (clock multiplier)

The ratio of the system bus speed and the operating (core) frequency of the processor. This information is needed by most motherboards when setting up the BIOS for a new processor.

Consider this CPU:

http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB9J#

Bus Speed - 1333Mhz

Core Ratio = 9.0

Fsb = Bus Speed/4

= 333.25

=> 333.25 * 9 = 2999.25

Hence the ram speed will be: 333.25 * 2 = 666.5

This is how sometimes people can overclock or underclock CPU based on these calc.

All the best,

Kind Regards,

Aryan.

Hi Aryan,

I am looking for the same answer, but I do not understand what you ahve said above.

What is the purpose of this step>

=> 333.25 * 9 = 2999.25

Hence the ram speed will be: 333.25 * 2 = 666.5

I gather you are dividing the bus speed by 4 as this is a quad cpu?

What is 2999.25?  Why are you showing 2999.25 and then not using it?

Why then is you rnext step to multipy bus speed * 2?

what is the bus core ratio and regarding to assessment of a processor how important it is.

regarding to p7350 in comparison with p7450 except the difference in frequency what other differences they have.

what is bus?

I love these tricky Intel people. They never give you the information too get the the right processor . There is a

which does not give you the FSB speed so you don't know what it actually is.

Okay so the new core CPUs dont have a front side bus its a "direct media in" DMI so there you go hope that helps you, also the bus is the interface with the motherboard so your older CPUs used FSB Font Side Bus it was an on board processor that relayed information with your cpu and memory and video.

Rajeev,

Which is the constant here and which is the derived parameter? IS the ratio a constant number   that Intel sets and based on that the end user can derive the processor speed? You defined the ratio as FSB/Operating frequency of the core. So is the operating frequency known .  How do you decide on number 9 is what I am asking
