      Hi All,

Downloaded NVMUpdate for Intel XL710 adapters for Linux. Trying to run it with log. There is a messages in a log:

      But at first I upgraded i40e drivers to 1.2.48. I don't see a driver more fresh than 1.2.48 on download.intel.com .

      What should I do?

          Hi John_obn,

          Thank you for contacting Intel.

Our latest Linux* driver and NVM Update versions are 1.2.48 and 1.25, respectively.  I will check on these versions.

            Hi John_obn,

We would like to request for your specific network card model.  Please provide details below:

            1. ethtool -I output

            2. serial number and PBA number - look for the white barcode sticker on adapter.

            Format: 15 digits + 6 digits + 6-3

We look forward to your reply.

            Sincerely,

            Sandy

                Hi Sandy,

We recently got a batch (8) XL710 dual 40G cards, so I read the discussion with interest. It's somewhat a surprise to me to see you said that the latest latest Linux* driver. It should be 1.3.38.  I have actually updated all our CentOS 7.1 with this release.

                Regards,

Hi Zack, Thanks for sharing the drivers from sourceforge, as it has slipped out of my mind.

Hi John_obn,  Thanks for providing your card details.  I will further your card's details and will be get back to you with my findings.

                  Sincerely,

                    Hi Sandy,

I always think that latest drivers should be on the official Intel download site. Can you confirm that those drivers from sourceforge are stable and official?

                    Regards,

                    Evgeny

                      Hello,

I don't speak for Intel as I don't work there   But I am keenly aware from browsing Linux kernel source that Intel is one of the most active contributor to Linux kernel (especially drivers).  If you use Linux tools such as modinfo .... you will actually see the name(s) of Intel engineer(s) who created and maintain the driver, and often, the mentioning of the sourceforge.net Intel driver site. BTW, the e1000 driver site hosted on sourceforge are all Intel engineers (actual driver developers included), so IMHO it's safe to use them. You will however, be skillful and knowledgable enough to do it right.

                      Regards,

                        Hi Zack,

Thank you for reply. I've already look through the code and modinfo. Now I can trust the driver from sourceforge.

                        Regards,

                          Hi Evgeny,

In case you encounter any problem with driver ver 1.3.38, you may try ver. 1.3.39.1.

                          Sincerely,

                            Hi Sandy,

                            With 1.3.38 I don't have any problems. Should I update to 1.3.39.1?

                            Regards,
