Cannot power with external 12VDC power supply

Hello, just got my Edison Arduino board running tonight, well almost.  Was following the Intel "getting started" instructions to the letter, everything was working until I went to upload the "blink" sketch through the Arduino IDE.  That also worked, and then suddenly I have no power to the Edison through the 12V power supply.  Things still work when powered by USB, but not through the external 5mm connection.  I checked and there is 12V on the VIN pin.  Nothing else is connected to the board (no shields, etc).

Any suggestions?  I've tested it with two separate power supplies, and checked the output of each supply with a multimeter... everything checks out ok on that side.

      Is this thing fried already?

      Thanks

      Andy
