Refresh rate Windows 8

Hi all,

I have a HP 850 G1 laptop (Intel 4400 graphics). I used to have the display adapter set to a 40p hz refresh rate because this solved the problem I had before with screen flickering at a lower brightness.

After updating to Windows 10 the 40p hz option was no longer visible. Since I hoped the problem would be solved by switching back to windows 8, I did a factory reset but now I am still not able to get it back to 40 hz. When I try to install the latest driver from intel.com it gives the notification that the system doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, so I have the somewhat older driver that the HP Support assistant automatically installs.

I have also not succeeded in creating a custom resolution through the CustomModeApp, because it gives the 'exceeds the maximum bandwith' notification at all settings that differ from 60p hz.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The notification you are getting when installing the driver is caused by the driver signature. You need to overwrite the driver manually so you can by pass that stage.

Try these steps:

Thanks so much for your reply! In the meantime I've managed to install the latest driver, but unfortunately it's still not possible to set the refresh rate to 40p hz.

Here is the information from the Intel Graphics Control Panel. Do you perhaps have any other suggestions with regards to enabling the 40p hz setting?

Thanks very much for your help!
