I believe this is possible and actually not so hard. However the method you use will depend on the language you chose to create the web GUI. For example if your code is written in Python, then you could add the following lines in the button's code:
from subprocess import call call(["wget","https://www.yourwebsite.com/Hello.jpg"]) call(["mv", "Hello.jpg", "/home/root/usr/downloads"])
I believe these lines will help you even if you are not using Python for your web GUI. I mean you can make a system call, in any language, and make it run the lines above. Or you could adopt the lines above to the language you are using.
Thank you Peter.
I am using node.js to code the GUI. Will try this today itself and see if does the trick.
For this process to work, doesn't it require a username and password to get into the server and another set for Intel Edison?
Well I just tested it by starting this sketch with an Arduino sketch and it worked. It did not need username or password. Try it yourself and let us know.
Sound Great. I'll try it out and let you know from my side.
Thank you for your help.
