Hello peltsesa,

The Intel graphic media accelerator 3600 is only supported for Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit only.

You can go here for the list of Graphics Drivers and Supported Operating Systems.

I agree!!! This needs to be Fixed!!! It sort of works and then crashes I can see the desktop on Windows 10 before the BSOD

Intel got away with not fixing this for 8 or 8.1 and now with everybody migrating from 7 this cant be ignored.

Hi Hansb,

The intel support Twitter said there will "soon" be a new driver release with Windows 10 support for the GMA 3600:

https://twitter.com/IntelSupport/status/626691582297817089 https://twitter.com/IntelSupport/status/626691582297817089

Would you happen to know anything about this?

Best,

Chris.

I can assure you that there will be no support for Window 10* drivers for GMA 3600.

Hello Hans,

Thanks for your response.

What about the Cloverview platform (Intel Atom Z2xxx)? It's got a different GMA and current drivers are compatible with Windows 8.1

Will we see a Windows 10 driver on those?

Hi Hans

You may wish to talk to your work mate that works on the twitter reply team, as they are insisting that a driver is being worked on.

And when you look at this overall, the N2600/gma3600 is the same core essentially as the Z2760 which does have full windows 10 support.

It really shouldn't take too long to modify drivers to offer full support.

And the amount of posts in the forum regarding this must surely be an indication that it is wanted by your customers.

Also how does intel as a company feel knowing their 2nd gen atom / gpu combo doesn't work in windows 10 properly, yet their first gen N270/gma945 combo has full 100% official support? that cannot be good!

Perhaps we (z2760 owners ) should gather on fb to show Intel how many people feels cheated with lack of driver support?

I can't imagine there is no release date! Intel is not a garage based company and there are procedures and processes in place to manage such "projects". Each programming work has a planned release date. It doesn't if nobody started doing anything with it.

I think that means nobody is working on it which is unacceptable.

We have around 24 Asus notebooks that we planned to upgrade to 10 and now they are trash because of Intel's laziness.

Fact is that this should of been fixed for windows 8, your only lucky that nobody really wanted to upgrade from 7 to 8+ until now.

Microsoft Claims that the processing required for 10 if less then 7 , and so far this little Atom boots up fast and is snappy even with Microsoft slow video driver.

I never realized until now that there wasn't support for 8, and the driver "Kinda Works". The login screen is crystal clear and so is the desktop in windows 10, after the start bar pops up it BSOD's

Reverting back to the Default Microsoft driver means bad resolution, no hardware acceleration, poor battery life and no suspend mode - again, unacceptable.

Lets just hope the initial post from Intel was accurate!

Same problem here. Haven't made migration to W8, so no problem, but now it's the difference between a piece of electronic junk or a working pc...

My netbook is still under warranty and I have no need to replace it. MS gives me free upgrade to Win10 that supports more RAM than Win7 Starter. It's great. But Intel does not want to prepare driver for this HW. Should I get a refund then? Why should I want to get rid of computer that is still under STANDARD, not even extended warranty?

Have you folks upgraded to Win10 via the Media Creation Tool?

I've been running a couple test units [Z2760] I upgraded manually from 8 and 8.1 with this tool and they've been running fairly smooth so far. I even got WU updates on each to newer graphics drivers than installed on the previous OS builds. If you're stuck on Win7-8.1, give this a shot and please post your results here for others to benefit. We're still not providing true Win10 drivers for platforms older than 4th Generation (HSW), this is largely because Win10 runs WDDM 2.0 and requires 4th Gen or newer to take advantage of the additional WDDM 2.0 features. Older drivers (Win7-8.1) have been working in my testing of older platforms though.

So while these platforms aren't officially 'supported' for Win10, I got Win10 to upgrade and there are drivers that are functional. On these various platforms, they were designed to work specifically with the OS they were sold with and due to various factors unfortunately we can't guarantee their performance or features on later OS so they are 'unsupported'. I also hear you saying that the Microsoft site says the units should be capable for Win10 [wrt spec], but other factors, Graphics being one of them, indicate these platforms are indeed not supported on Windows 10.

For the best performance and experience with these platforms, I heavily advise you simply continue using the OS they were made for and not attempt the migration. If you do choose to upgrade anyway, it is at-your-own-risk.

For the best performance and experience on Win10, we recommend you upgrade your equipment to 5th Generation (BDW) or better yet 6th generation (SKL) hardware when it's available to you. Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

Well, there doesn't seem to be any help from either Microsoft or intel, and only few days left for the free upgrade period. I think it is a good idea for everyone with incompatible display driver to disable it, do the upgrade and then go back to your original operating system. This way your machine will have a valid Windows 10 key, and you can upgrade for free any time in the future in case a display driver is provided.

I thought to share my experience of upgrading to windows 10 and back. I have a netbook Acer Aspire One D270 with Intel Atom N2600 CPU and windows 7 Ultimate. First I saved a complete backup and system image on an external drive just in case. Then, I disabled the GMA 3600 adapter in device manager and did an in-place upgrade by downloading and running the upgrade assistant from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Click the Upgrade now button to begin the upgrade . The process was pretty much straight forward, just follow simple pressing "OK button", but quite lengthy. It took almost 4-5 hours for the whole process to complete and launch Windows 10 welcome screen. You will be given the option to select few settings so you can select them or just choose express settings since you will be going back anyways.

I have Windows 10 on other computers so I'm quite familiar with it, but I spent few hours checking it on the little machine. It ran pretty well actually better than Windows 7, but naturally the big drawback was the poor display resolution and some related features. The brightness control didn't work and the sleep option in power was missing. Other than that everything else worked well, but I believe it is not worth it to keep Windows 10 with an inferior display. Although I have a month but I decided to go back after one day. To do this is very easy, just go to Settings> Update & Security > Recovery > Go back to Windows 7, and confirm a number of times.

Going back to Windows 7 was much easier than I thought. It took probably less than 30 minutes and I was back in Windows 7 the same way I left it. I enabled the GMA 3600 adaptor and restarted, and could immediately see the huge difference in display. Everything was fine except for one problem, I could not run the backup or system image creation and they were giving missing libraries and corrupt catalog errors. Initially I was very disappointed and worried but after some little search I found the solution was very easy. Go to file manager and right click on libraries and restore defaults. Also when you run system image creation it will give you an error of corrupted catalog and ask you to delete it and create new one, just ok and it will be as good as new.

I hope the above will be helpful in case you decide to do the upgrade!
