This would be the USB 3.0 driver, but it is only necessary if you have windows* 7
You can try installing this driver:
No, I have Windows 8.1.
Here's what happened: my AV program accidentally removed a driver for my USB ports. Now, none of them work.
I've tried a system restore (that's what fixed it last time), uninstalling the driver and restarting the computer, and a million other things, but none work.
If I look in device manager, I found "Mobile 5th Generation Intel Core USB xHCI controller - 9CB1" listed under "other devices". It said it had no driver. However, the update driver option didn't work. No driver was found on the computer or online. I uninstalled the device and rebooted the computer to reinstall the driver, and instead of coming up as "Mobile 5th Generation Intel Core USB xHCI controller - 9CB1", it now shows up as "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller".
The XHCI drivers provided by Intel would not work with windows 8.1 since these drivers as well as other USB drivers come with the operating system.
You can download them through windows* update.
You can aslo try to update the chipset drivers, provide your motherboard information (or laptop model) and a screen shot of the device manager as well, in order to better assist you.
