E3-1275V3 max bandwidth

Hello I have a E3-1275V3 , and a PLX 8724

The E3 has 16 lanes of pci 3.0 ( according to datasheet)

The 8724 has 24 lanes of pci 3.0

What is the maximum GB/s that I will be able to transfer?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Marcelo

Hello MarceloMontero,

We can wait for other users with a similar configuration to share their knowledge, but I suggest in order to calculate the total bandwidth it is best to check with the PLX* 8724 specifications or with the motherboard manufacture, they may have this value already calculated.

Hello hansb_intel,

According to http://www.plxtech.com/products/expresslane/pex8724 their website its 8GT/s , but that is transfers per second, how do I see this in Gigabits per second?

Best regards,

Marcelo

"Giga transfers" and "gigabits" per second are basically the same thing, the difference is the theoretical vs. actual bandwidth in which PCI express speed is measured.

You can check this link with an excellent explanation on how this works:
