Windows 10 - Intel Display Audio

Windows 10 build 10158 now forces a "Windows Update" version of the Intel 4600 display drivers, and won't accept a Windows 8.1 version (says it's not valid x64). It appears this driver version is not packaged with an "Intel Display Audio" driver to match.

I have tried using the inf file from 6.16.0.3174 and this gives me Stereo sound as long as I don't touch any settings, it doesn't recognise the capabilities of my AV receiver and gives "Failed to produce test tone" any time after I've tried to change the speaker configuration or bitrate. I then have to uninstall and reinstall the driver to get basic stereo back.

Is there or should there be an Intel Display Audio driver to pair with the latest Windows 10 driver??

At this stage, Windows 10 has not been officially released. I recommend waiting for proper drivers for your graphics and audio controller once the operating system has been officially launched.

The product can't be beta tested if the appropriate elements are missing. Intel has opted for a Windows Update driver source pending release, previously the Windows 8.1 driver package worked fine. It would help if the necessary dependencies were released in parallel to prevent capability going backwards in the short time frame before public release.

Hi rideti.me,

Please retest this with the latest driver available on WU (4235). If you have install issues be sure to delete any previous graphics driver and then try install. Thanks.

4235 was the driver available when I posted (08/06). The audio bug was a Windows build problem. However it remains that the Intel HD Audio driver is not packaged with the WU display driver, so you have to find that manually from somewhere else! The Intel download packages cover both. Windows only provides a generic audio driver if you don't override it. Less than a week to go Rtm! Best repackage it quickly!
