I have a HP Pavilion G6 2103TU laptop which was not working at all sometime back. So I got it repaired from a local shop. They probably replaced an IC from the motherboard. But since then, I have been having this problem where (of the 3 USB ports, 1 on left, 2 on right), the 2 USB (3.0) ports on the left work only when the USB 2.0 port on the right is not connected to the motherboard via the connector. If it is connected, the USB 2.0 port on the right works along with the 2 indicators (power and HDD) present in that single module, but both ports on the left don't.
Till now, I have tried,
Restarting the computer.
Unintalling every USB driver listed in the device manager.
Running the Intel Driver Update Utility, no new drivers were requred according to the utility.
Updating through HP support assistant. Again no updates were shown.
Running Windows Hardware troubleshooter.
Running the HP UEFI diagnostic framework. It just declares only those USB ports which are anyway not working in Windows as failing with a failure Id.
None of the above have been of any help.
So, is this a hardware issue, or as issue with the OS? Any help will be appreciated.
Checking the information you have provided, I would recommend you doing a BIOS update on your computer as first step. Also, make sure the chipset driver is installed as well since this controls the USB 2.0 ports usage.
