Could you please tell me what image are you using in your Edison?
As an alternative, you can try using AT and serial commands to connect to the modem. Wvdial is not necessary to try this method so you won’t have trouble with that. Please let me know your results.
I made like the BSP http://download.intel.com/support/edison/sb/edisonbsp_ug_331188007.pdf. and I added this in edison-image.bb
IMAGE_INSTALL += "vim"
IMAGE_INSTALL += "ncftp"
IMAGE_INSTALL += "fswebcam"
IMAGE_INSTALL += "git"
IMAGE_INSTALL += "wvdial"
OK, I will try the AT commands. Did you advise me to a tutorial ?
I didn’t specify any tutorial on my last post, but you can check the link below to get a list of AT commands for the Huawei Modem E1550 3G. I’m not sure if this the one you’re using, but the commands should work for you.
We had exactly the same issue with the wvdial, my best solution so far was to compile and install wvstreams library directly on Intel Edison, it seems the 'make install' command fixed the issue. I haven't got enough time to figure out exactly what is wrong with yocto recipe.
If you like you like to try this you can download pre-compiled library, unzip it and run 'make install'.
I hope this helps, let me know if you'd have any luck with a proper solution to this issue.
