Intel HD4600 cannot set custom resolution of 2560x1600 - bandwitdh capacity exceeded!

Hi some professional out there, I need advise... I tried this:

using my laptop dell E6440 having Intel HD4600 graphic, tried to dock on an E-port replicator PR02X or PR03X , then connecting the external monitor thru of Dell 3007WFP thru DisplayPort at E-port replicator (converter from DP to DVI-Dual Link is Dell DANARBC084). As there's no option to choose for 2560x1600 resolution, so I need to create one custom resolution. I open the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, and key-in my needed resolution 2560x1600@60Hz, it says "The custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". Without the resolution, my monitor can only display 1280x800. I really need the resolution. Below is the information center report, hope someone may help to advise, many thanks!

I am sorry you are having problems setting the resolution but let me help you.

My first advice is to update the graphics driver. Here you have the download link to get the 15.36.21.4222 version that has been posted to Intel Download Center at the following direct links to the drivers:

Besides updating the graphics driver, another good step is to update the BIOS in your system.

Also I would like to add some extra points to consider:

1) Be aware that these are generic drivers with no specific OEM customizations. If your system is a laptop or tablet based system it likely has customizations to the driver made by the manufacturer of the system. If you install the generic driver you will lose the customizations and the system may not work as intended. If it is a laptop or tablet recommend you use the latest drivers supplied by the manufacturer.

If you want to try the generic driver I would recommend you set a restore point before updating the driver. Download the zip version of the drive and extract to a folder on your desktop.To install the generic driver, follow these steps exactly.

1. Login with administrator privileges
2. Open Control Panel
3. Open Device Manager
4. Click on "Display adapters"
5. Double click "Intel HD Graphics"
6. Click on the "Driver" tab
7. Click on "Update Driver" button
8. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"
9. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
10. Click on "Have Disk" button
11. Click "Browse"
12. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the Intel HD Graphics driver to
13. Navigate to the Graphics sub-folder
14. Double click the igdlh64.inf or igdlh.inf file <-- depends on if you have 32 or 64 bit OS</span>
15. Click "OK"
16. Click "Next", Driver should now be installing.
17. If successful, click "Close", Reboot.

2) Please note that Intel HD Graphics driver does not support Dual Link DVI. It only supports single link.

Intel graphics doesn't support DVI dual link. As a result you will either be limited to lower resolution (19x12 @60Hz) or perhaps, if your monitor supports it, 25x16 at lower refresh rate (say 30Hz).

Intel graphics supports mailto:25x16@60Hz 25x16@60Hz no problem via HDMI and DP is you don't convert to DVI... Can you run HDMI 1.4 or DP1.2 from replicator to the monitor?

Hi all,

I finally found the solution - Dell E6440 + Eport Replicator + "Dell DisplayPort to DVI Adapter DANASBC084 KDP70".

I bought the Adapter thru Ebay (also available in Amazon). Once it's attached to the eport replicator DisplayPort, with my Monitor 3007WFP, my laptop automatically detects and show the option of 2560x1600 (60Hz).

Thanks rootheday for replaying. My monitor only support 25x16 (60hz) or 12x80 (60Hz)... I tried HDMI but in vain. My monitor has only dvi-dual link, no other option/port.

Now it's done, but the display is somehow a bit noisy, I am not sure if that's the cable issue. Anyway, thanks everyone trying to help.
