This update addresses several previously found issues and includes new features. Please see the http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24964/eng/ReleaseNotes_GFX_15%2036%2021%204222.pdf release notes and excerpt below for details. As always, feedback is appreciated.

The 15.36.21.4222 has been posted to Intel Download Center at the following direct links to the drivers:

32bit - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24965 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24965

64 bit - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24964 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24964

This driver supports the following:

5th Generation Intel® Core Processors with Intel HD graphics, Intel Iris™graphics, Intel Iris™Pro graphics and select Pentium®/ Celeron® Processors with Intel® HD graphics for Microsoft Windows* 8.1, Microsoft Windows* 8 and Microsoft Windows* 7 operating systems.

4th Generation Intel® Core™Processors with Intel HD graphics, Intel Iris™graphics and Intel Iris Pro graphics and select Pentium®/ Celeron® Processors with Intel® HD graphics for Microsoft Windows* 8.1, Microsoft Windows* 8 and Microsoft Windows* 7 operating systems.

New Features in this release:

  • Support for the newly launched H-series, R-series, and S-series 5th Generation Intel Core processors.

  • Display Scaling Option is Now "Sticky" User Preference

Scaling support in control panel has been changed to improve user experience. Previously, the set of scaling options available to the user was tied to the currently selected resolution and any change to the resolution caused the user selected scaling option to be lost. In the new implementation, the user selected scaling option is orthogonal to the current resolution and expresses the user's preference/intent for scaling behavior, regardless of the current resolution. The driver will remember this scaling preference and apply it for future display mode sets performed either in the graphics control panel OR via OS control panel.

  • Forced Application Scaling

The control panel also offers a new "forced application scaling" option where the user selected scaling option above for desktop will also be applied for full screen applications (generally games or media players), overriding whatever scaling mode the application and/or DirectX runtime/Operating System specify. This is intended to allow users to force "Stretch Full Screen" or "Maintain Aspect Ratio" scaling to address problems reported by users with games running in "Centered" scaling mode - particularly DirectX10 and 11 games and/or on Windows 8/8.1. Centered mode gives a bad user experience when running games as significantly lower than native resolution (e.g. to improve frame rate) on displays with very high resolutions. Intel has identified several root causes for this behavior:

Hello.

All previous bugs reported with drivers 4080, 4156, 4170, 4206 aren't fixed yet

1) P010/P016 bug with LAV filters for 10bit H.264/H.265 video

2) New de-interlacing modes of 4080 driver - API v1.13 - don't work.

You' ve said that root cause has already been found, but still no fix.

3) MadShaders v0.4.1 two false renderings:

a) Am I dreaming demo - Is full of black dots/ rectangles

b) Flaring demo - Completely false rendering

thanks

@ Nikos D, regarding:

2) New de-interlacing modes of 4080 driver - API v1.13 - don't work.

You' ve said that root cause has already been found, but still no fix.

New modes introduced in 1.13 API are supported only in PTIR plugin that is not part of legacy Media SDK library. It "worked" in ADI or BOB mode in previous libraries due to a bug.. So please don't use any mode except ADI or BOB.

Thanks

Robert

The two features I have wanted for longest, both added at once?

And they seem to work!

Now I just need some fixes for old DX8 games (as per postings previous) and I'll be a truly happy bunny! But thank you for these changes .

Hi, Robert:

I just tried the new driver on the game I posted on 4206 driver post. Apparently this new driver does not fix the problem yet.

Let's see about next one.

@ -%3DS%3D- , Could you provide additional details of the game un-playability issue? Post the steps to reproduce, game version/build, game settings?

Thanks

Robert

Hi, Robert:

Here I attached images regarding the game. It's basically too dark to play and adjusting gamma would not help. I have tried to adjust everything but none solves the problem. My PC is nuc5i5ryh with 16G RAM. I'm not sure about the game version/build since Steam always updates them to the latest. Game setting is attached as image. You may basically enter the game with the setting in the image to reproduce the issue.

Thanks,

There are a few key pieces of information you haven't provided. for example - the name of the game? I am guessing (based on the character names) that this is Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2?

Hello, thanks for keeping this forum thread for the Intel graphics, its really nice to see all the details about the drivers, thank you. I'm on a Intel i5 4210u and have been pretty happy with the .4170 drivers. I do play Elite:Dangerous and FFXI and haven't noticed any issues other than on Elite Dangerous, I can choose 1920x1080 and 1280x720 and they will work fullscreen but other resolutions work but I just need to set the game to borderless window and it then will go fullscreen, but that may just be as intended. I'm just wondering if there are any performance enhancements for the 4th generation HD 4400 graphics in the new .4222 drivers, or should I just stick with the .4170? Will color profiles import into .4222 from .4170 .igp files?

Ebojager, are you using an Optimus laptop? Please note that borderless window is not fullscreen, although it appears to be.

No, it's a Lenovo Flex 2-15 with 1920x1080 native resolution. Thank you. Maybe the developers put that in to help with the scaling issue?

Hi

Is there a similar driver update coming out for Intel HD Graphics 4000 that adresses the scaling problem?

Apart from that good work! Nice to see that a big company like Intel is listening to their customers and even fixes specific issues like the Far Cry 4 shadow bug.

Regards

Have it on my XPS 13 9343. Uninstall the factory GPU driver from Dell first and make sure you have the 64 bit version.

I have a Computer with an Asus Maximus VI motherboard and Intel Core I7-4770k connected through HDMI with a Home Theater 5.1 Pioneer VSX and from here through HDMI to a Samsung smart TV. There is also a direct connection through HDMI from the computer to the TV.

Up to the Intel Graphics 4600 driver 10.18.10.3262 (July 2013) there were 2 playback device; one for the TV and one for the Home Theater. After updating the driver it remains only the TV (stereo) playback device and it is not possible to reproduce the audio through the Home Theater. If i came back to the old original driver, the playback device for te Home Theater return back. What to do in order to maintain the playback device for Home Theater (with the control of up to 8 channel) and have the last graphics 4600 driver?

@ Ebojager, would really like to know this as well! Have never been able to use non-native resolutions on my HD4000/8870M combo, I suppose because I have a touchscreen? Anyway, hope the same update will be released for us soon.
